Pipeline Pigs

Bi-Directional Pigs (Bi-Di)
  • Bi-Di pigs are used for a wide variety of applications, from flood, clean and gauging operations onto dewatering, as well as operational maintenance.
  • Standard Features
    • Metallic parts from Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel (High Tensile Bolts c/w Locking Nuts)
    • Pigging Discs – High Grade Polyurethane Elastomer (4 x Sealing Disc and 2 x Guiding Disc minimum)
    • Polyurethane Bumper Noses c/w Bypass Slots
    • Bore Passing Up to 10% bore restrictions (greater with changes in disc configuration)
    • Minimum Bend Radius 3D minimum (1.5D specials available)

Articulated Pigs
  • Articulated pigs are typically designed to pass pipeline wye connections whilst also negotiating tight bend radii.
  • They are also used to pass oversized features (such as ball valves or connector hubs).
  • This type of pig is also highly efficient in long run dewatering/flooding operations as well as dual-diameter applications.
  • Standard Features
    • Metallic parts from Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel (High Tensile Bolts c/w Locking Nuts)
    • Articulation joints using high tensile wire plus polyurethane spacer joint or universal-type
    • Pigging Discs – High Grade Polyurethane Elastomer (4 x Sealing Disc and 2 x Guiding Disc minimum)
    • Polyurethane Bumper Noses c/w Bypass SlotsCan be disc, cup or wheeled support type
    • Minimum Bend Radius 3D minimum (1.5D specials available)

Cup Pigs & Conical Cup Pigs
  • The standard cup includes a rigid shoulder design for increased cleaning efficiency whereas the conical cup has a more streamlined design that allows for long runs and much-increased wear life.
  • The cup pig design is provided with 2, 3 or 4 cups and can be further enhanced with the addition of guide discs, for increased cleaning efficiency.
  • Propipe has a reputation for reliability and expertise and excels in pig design for difficult pipelines.
  • Standard Features
    • Standard Cup for short runs (>100km) / Conical Cup <100km
    • Metallic parts from Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel (High Tensile Bolts c/w Locking Nuts)
    • Pigging Cups – High Grade Polyurethane Elastomer (2 to 4 cup configurations)
    • Polyurethane Bumper Noses c/w Bypass Slots
    • Bore Passing Up to 20% bore restrictions
    • Minimum Bend Radius 3D minimum (1.5D specials available)

Foam Pigs (Light, Medium & high Density)
  • Cost-effective single-use pigs for multiple applications and contingency operations
  • Foam pigs are used for a wide variety of applications, such as for flooding, dewatering and drying, as well as cleaning, gauging and batching operations.
  • Foam pigs can also be used for proving pipelines suitability for pigging with less flexible pig types such as metal bodied pigs
  • Sizes ranging from 1/2″ to 90″ and these are custom-made to order.

Magnetic Pipeline Pigs

Magnets are attached to pipeline pigs for a number of reasons:

  • To operate valves
  • To operate magnetic non-intrusive pig signaller detection devices
  • To remove ferrous debris from the pipeline

Magnetic non-intrusive pig signaller detection devices are looking for a change in magnetic field for them to operate. Magnets for this purpose can be bonded into the polyurethane spacers on smaller diameter pigs or they can be mounted directly onto the pig body in cassette bracelets.
